Orlando Farmer's Market at Lake Eola Park
More than your average farmer's market
Ah, Sundays: it’s that weird day that falls after the Saturday night parties and just before the Monday morning dread. It’s a day meant for rest and relaxation, and if I’m lucky to have it off I try to make my way to the Orlando Farmer’s Market at Lake Eola Park.
The Orlando Farmer’s Market takes place in the heart of downtown Orlando, offset by the swan-filled Lake Eola and scattered high-rise apartments. Locals of downtown and its nearby neighborhoods as well as those in the Central Florida area travel to enjoy the various stalls, food trucks and produce stands of the market.
The park extends all the way around a lake that features a large, flowing fountain that has become an icon of Central Florida. Also unique to the park are swans, geese and ducks, giving the area an injection of much needed nature. On the opposite side of where the market takes place, visitors can rent swan boats and leisurely paddle around the lake. A winding path extends around the lake as well and is a very pet-friendly area for those that want to bring along a furry friend.
The Farmer’s Market features a myriad of eclectic vendors that sell anything from coffee, kettle corn and crepes to jewelry, candles and natural soaps. There is regularly lots of local artists’ work on display and for sale, as well as a large produce stand specializing in grilled corn on the cob. In the center of all the action, an adult-friendly garden serves beer, wine, and mimosas for those that wish to take the R&R to another level. Live music frequents the center area to further add to the atmosphere.
Occasionally, the market is supplemented by an Orlando Parks event such as the Fall Fiesta during the first weekend of November. During these events, booths, vendors and entertainment spread around the entire lake creating fun, family-friendly outdoor events.
The Orlando Farmer’s Market at Lake Eola Park takes place every Sunday from 10am – 4pm, at Lake Eola Park on the corner of E. Central Blvd and N. Eola Drive. Sundays bring free street parking, and parking garages on S. Osceola Avenue and N. Eola Drive are available for a fee.
