By Land, Monorail, or Sea: A Magical, Transportation and Parking System

Orlando, Florida - Review Experience

Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

Walt Disney World offers a variety of ways to get you from 'here to there' around Disney property. Used by millions of tourists and locals year round, Disney's transportation systems offer the utmost, professional service with expediated transit to your Disney destination of choice.

Initially, you may be driving yourself onto Disney property. As is standard, for parking at any Disney theme park you must pay a flat rate to park for the day.

$14.00 - Car/Taxi/Shuttle/Limousine/Motorcycle
$15.00 - Camper/Trailer
$18.00 - Bus/Tractor Trailer

Now what is included in this parking payment is the freedom to leave your car in the lot, or park at another Disney park until the parks close (closing times for the parks vary throughout the season, with summer having the longest hours of operation). So if you have enjoyed your day at Epcot and want to spend the evening at the Magic Kingdom, why not save yourself the hassle of driving and take the Monorail instead?

Now as far as theme parks, the Monorail only travels between Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. The monorail also travels around the ‘Seven Seas Lagoon” and has daily stops at Disney’s Grand Floridian, Disney’s Polynesian, Disney’s Contemporary, as well as Disney's Transportation and Ticket Center. With fantastic, sweeping views of the lagoon, surronding wetlands, and Cinderella’s Castle, the monorail is the most popular ride on Disney property.

The monorail schedule is as follows:

Magic Kingdom Express: 1 hour before park open to 1 hour after park close.
Magic Kingdom Resorts: 6:30am until 1 hour after park close.
Epcot: 1 hour before park open until 1 hour after park close.

Now for those of you that would prefer to take a leisurely, boat ride to the Magic Kingdom (as my Mom enjoys doing), you can also catch the Walt Disney World Ferry at the Disney Transportation and Ticket Center.

Disney also offers a bus shuttle service. The Disney busses run 60-90 minutes before the parks open and 60-90 minutes after the parks close. This express, shuttle service is offered from all of the Disney parks. If you are going to the Magic Kingdom, the bus will drop you off at the Disney Transporation and Ticket Center. If you are traveling to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Epcot, or Hollywood Studios, the busses will drop you conveniently in front of the park entrances. The Disney bus service is also offered to and from the Disney resorts/hotels as well as to the Disney Waterparks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach), and Downtown Disney/Disney Marketplace. So if you are staying on Disney property, and intend to stay there for your entire vacation, there really is no need to rent a car.

So why not let Disney do the driving?

Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

You're on vacation.
