Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando 2013

Orlando, Florida - Review Experience

Third Time's the Charm!

A little over two weeks ago I was able to attend Electric Daisy Carnival, hosted right here in the beautiful city of Orlando, and it came back better than ever. This was the third year the festival returned to Orlando and every year Insomniac Events manages to outshine itself from the year before. Electric Daisy Carnival is a two day dance music festival featuring world famous headliners, and fun filled carnival rides. Friday’s lineup included Calvin Harris, Excision, Kill the Noise, Porter Robinson, Swedish house mafia protégé R3hab, and duo Zeds Dead.

Saturday proved to live up to the hype as well with equally impressive headliners. Cedric Gervais performed, and I’m sure you’ve heard his fantastic remix of Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness on the radio a million times. This was definitely my favorite set from the weekend. Gervais began playing Del Rey’s remix, while flashing images of her on the screen behind him- it was one breathtaking show. Another of my favorites was Dada Life, who recently broke the world record for largest pillow fight at one of their shows. Madeon, who was discovered on YouTube at the age of 16 and performed at the world famous Ultra Music Festival (before he was even old enough to attend), performed as well. Krewella, who made their radio debut with “Alive”, closed out Saturday night.  Tommie Sunshine, one of the biggest pioneers of dance music, who has had a career that has spanned more than two decades, rounded out some of the biggest names for Saturday’s lineup.

This was my third year attending Electric Daisy Carnival, and I can honestly say that each year is better than the last. One of the best parts of this show are all the carnival rides, it really does live up to its name. It’s such a thrilling feeling being on top of a Ferris wheel and looking down at the stage and the crowd going wild for their favorite artists. The view is phenomenal, there really is no way to describe the pure bliss you feel when you experience it.

Of course daisies are the choice of clothing for many in attendance. One of my favorite things to do in between artist sets is people watch. There can be some insane outfits, and you can make a lot of new friends simply by standing next to each other in a crowd and sharing the same experience. I have met a lot of wonderful people at festivals, and I embrace the energy that everyone brings. Everyone is there to have a great time and dance all day and night (well at least until midnight). But fear not, although the festival ends at midnight, downtown Orlando is a haven for after parties. The event takes place in Tinker Field, which is conveniently close to Downtown.

Electric Daisy Carnival is the creation of Insomniac Events owner, Pasquale Rotella. Electric Daisy Carnival takes place all over the US, including cities like Chicago, Las Vegas, even Puerto Rico and this year it recently expanded to London. Insomniac has proven themselves to me-an avid festival goer- and I’m sure they will blow you away with their event as well. Expect to see me at next year’s festival, and I hope to see you there too!
