WhirlyDome – Orlando, FL

Orlando, Florida - Review Experience

One dome, infinite possibilities

What is the WhirlyDome? This is a common reaction when many people hear this name. So what exactly is the WhirlyDome and why should you visit during your trip to Orlando? It is a completely indoor facility that includes a number of different types of games, compiled into its own unique game. This is also the very first completely mechanized team sport activity that you have to see to believe.

The entire complex is home to a number of different types of gaming experiences and provides and action packed experience for anyone that visits. The main focus of the WhirlyDome, is Whirly Ball. Whirly Ball is a unique combo of hockey, basketball, jai-alai and bumper cars that requires at least four people to play. Each visitor gets a 15 minute ride and chances are it is a ride that you will not quickly forget.

The game is usually played with a total of 10 players that each pilot their WhirlyBugs, which is what the high tech bumper cars are called, and then use a scoop in order to pass and then shoot a plastic ball into their opponents goal. While trying to score you will also be blocking and bumping your way around the entire court. Each game will have a referee who is there to enforce all of the rules, to keep an accurate score and ensure that every participant has a great time. There is no prior experience necessary to have a great time playing, and there is no need to have any type of athletic abilities.

When you visit the WhirlyDome, there are no age restrictions, the only requirement is that participants are over 54 inches tall. They have two courts, one downstairs and one upstairs.

However, do not fret, if Whirly Ball does not seem appealing to you, the location offers a number of other activities, such as:

  • Driving like the pros with a Formula 1 Racing experience;
  • Laser bowling;
  • Lazer Frenzy where your objective is to get through the maze and not trip a lazer;
  • Lazer tag;
  • Arcade;
  • Full restaurant and bar outside, downstairs and upstairs.

The experience that is offered by WhirlyDome provides you and your family with a break from the hustle and bustle of Disney World and the other local theme parts and provides a great way to let your kids get out all of their extra energy. Additionally, it is a much more affordable option than the ever-popular and well-known theme parks in the area.

There are a number of different party rooms on-site allowing you to host a number of different events such as Bar Mitzvahs, family reunions and large corporate functions. There is no admission fee when you visit the WhirlyDome, you only have to pay for the activities that you want to do.
